A Sampling of Tours -
Sample just a few of the tours we’ve
created:
•
Crossroads of American History
From the shouts and gunfire when villagers stood on
the banks of the swirling waters of the Missouri River
to send off Lewis & Clark to the hustle and bustle
of legislators arriving to convene the state’s
first general assembly, St. Charles has seen it all.
Spend the day where time stands still and history converges.
• Hoorah for the Red,
White and
Blue
Unfurl the banners, break out the red, white and blue,
strike up the band – this is a day that celebrates
veterans of all branches of the Armed Services and their
accomplishments. Your marching orders will include the
Missouri Wing of the Commemorative Air Force and the
Veterans Memorial Walk. While no k-rations are available,
you’re sure to find something to please at one
of the 25 restaurants located on Historic St. Charles’
Main Street.
• Daniel Boone and the Wine
Country
He came from Kentucky looking for a new frontier to
conquer. Daniel Boone, trailblazer, scout, trapper,
surveyor, judge, arrived in Missouri territory to open
a new era in America’s westward push. Spend the
morning discovering this lovely spot. Then off to Augusta,
America’s first designated wine district for a
tasting of their award winning wines and its majestic
views.
•
The Spirits of Frenchtown
St. Charles is at its heart truly
a French town. Experience that at the Shrine of Ste.
Philippine Duchesne, who was canonized in 1988. A narrated
tour of Frenchtown highlights its architecture and you’ll
see historic treasures at the Frenchtown Heritage Museum.
Art is the word at the Foundry Art Centre, housed in
a former train car factory. See working artists at their
craft. Then take a drive down Historic Main Street,
full of fascinating shops, restaurants - and even a
few ghost stories!
• Discover
St. Louis
Discover the Gateway City with
this adventure into the history of the area including
the magnificent Gateway Arch, Forest Park and the Cathedral
Basilica with the world’s largest collection of
mosaic art.
